Midwives Advantage was built by a midwife and an attorney.

Our founder, Stacy Carruth Beckers, spent over 25 years in clinical midwifery and understands firsthand what it takes to lead when the stakes are high and the margin for error is small. In 2024, she retired from attending births to devote herself full-time to Midwives Advantage.

Out-of-hospital birth isn’t for the timid. It requires calm under pressure, sharp decision-making, and disciplined follow-through. We bring that same mindset to insurance billing—strategic, meticulous, and steady—so your claims are handled with the kind of behind-the-scenes precision that gets results without creating noise for your team.
Founded by a midwife.    Crafted for midwives.   Strengthened by experience.

A Midwife’s Mission Transforms into a Movement

Stacy Lewis Carruth, CPM, began her journey in midwifery in 1992. With three decades of experience overseeing two licensed birth centers and attending to hundreds of births, she has gained invaluable insights into clinical care and healthcare administration. "Families choosing licensed midwives were often left without insurance coverage for out-of-h births, while those opting for physicians and hospitals were covered." As both a mother and a midwife, Stacy took a stand to address this injustice.

The Turning Point - In 2009, Stacy partnered with a pioneering attorney who had recovered over $300 million for healthcare providers. Together, they founded Edge Medical Solutions, Inc., a billing firm aimed at assisting physicians and specialists in overcoming underpaying insurance contracts. Stacy became the first midwife to join, resulting in immediate improvements in her reimbursements.

National Birth Centers is Established -  Combining legal expertise with midwifery knowledge, they launched National Birth Centers, Inc., a company dedicated exclusively to midwives and birth centers. This initiative allowed midwives to become contracted providers benefitting from pre-existing payer agreements and gaining fair access to insurance payments.

Midwives Advantage Today - Currently, Midwives Advantage supports over 200 midwives across 38 states. Our mission is to help secure maximum reimbursements from insurance companies for the essential services that midwives provide.
